About this session

The latest estimates from the UN indicate that the majority of population growth will occur in cities, with an estimated 66% of the global population living in urban areas by 2050. Urban cities are developing more rapidly than at any point in history, making it more important than ever that this development is manages in a sustainable way. If managed appropriately, we could see unprecedented economic growth and prosperity, but if managed poorly, economic, social and environmental decline are almost inevitable. How should policies and regulations be shaped to ensure sustainable and affordable urban infrastructure and services in the coming decades? What are the biggest roadblocks in ensuring action is taken in developing a sustainable future? What role can business leaders take in jump-starting these initiatives?
